01 / ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
Memory deserves care, accuracy and a permanent place in public life. We bring together commemoration, responsible archival work and education, centring the experiences of Tamil communities.
How we preserve historyBring families and communities together to honour lives, loss and resilience with dignity.
Safeguard eyewitness accounts, historical evidence, images and irreplaceable records.
Help younger generations engage with Tamil history and the principles of human rights.
Work towards a thoughtful and accessible permanent memorial in Canada.
02 / REMEMBRANCE
May 18 has become a significant day of remembrance for Tamil communities in Canada and abroad. In 2022, Canada's House of Commons adopted a motion recognizing May 18 as Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day.
We honour those who were lost by keeping their stories present for the generations who follow.
03 / EDUCATION
Ontario's Tamil Genocide Education Week Act, 2021 establishes the seven-day period ending May 18 as an annual opportunity for public learning and reflection.
